OMEGA Born, by CR Guiliano

Arri had been abused and picked on all his life. Born a runt, and then maturing into an omega, he was cast out of his pack. Figuring he’d not find another pack willing to take him in, he struggled to make a life for himself in the human world.
If he didn’t have bad luck, he had no luck at all. Jobs were hard to come by, and he wasn’t able to keep them for long, his omega empathy causing humiliating meltdowns.
He’d been robbed, mugged, and nearly raped too many times to count. Arri’s wolf was fundamentally broken, with no way to emerge, or protect him, finally withdrawing deep within him and remaining silent.
Then, a day came when things changed. Answering yet another employment ad, he was stunned to find the source of the advertisement was a beta wolf, then was shocked further when he was presented before the alpha of the Woodlynn pack. He’d heard rumors about this pack, the alpha considered one of the strongest on the continent.
He believed the rumors after meeting the large male.
Arri’s silent wolf had awakened, whispering to him, calling the alpha, mate, which was ridiculous. Alphas didn’t mate with lowly omegas. Especially male omegas, even though Arri was perfectly capable of giving an alpha pups, or so he’d been told by the old ex-beta he’d befriended. But then again, male omegas were rare, and thought little of, viewed as weak, considered unnatural. So, he would ignore his wolf, do his job, and keep his head down, not causing Alpha Dryden any cause to fire him.
*~*~*~*
Dryden knew there was something different about the assistant his beta, Vann, had brought to him. He was human, yet he smelled of wolf. But not a scent Dryden had ever experienced before. Vann hadn’t seemed to notice, though Dryden suspected his beta was still angry at Dryden insisting on a human assistant.
How could he tell his beta he’d felt an uneasiness in his pack, a danger that he couldn’t put his finger on, and didn’t want to trust any pack-mates to handle his affairs?
As time passed, his instincts that something was wrong within his pack grew, along with the certainty that Arri was not what he seemed.
It was when Dryden was visiting another pack, tremulous negotiations for an alliance in the works, and Arri was attacked, that the truth came out. Dryden’s assistant was an omega wolf. And not just any omega, but a Fae Omega, which would be the reason Dryden hadn’t known.
Omega wolves were rare, and most packs banished them for their weaknesses. But a Fae Omega was unheard of, most believing them myths. The Fae had died out a long time ago, and for an omega wolf to be born with Fae blood was incredible.
But that wasn’t Dryden’s biggest problem. The moment Arri had shifted, Dryden’s wolf went into the blood-mate fever, the need to claim the omega the only thing he was capable of thinking about.
But to claim Arri, Dryden would have to fight the alpha of Arri’s home pack, and he wasn’t sure he could win. And, then there was the unknown threat within his own pack that he still needed to figure out.

Great start to series!
By Maggie Johnson
I really loved this book. Arri, an omega is banished from his pack for being weak and because the Alpha's son wants him. Alone and on the streets, he tries to make his way but his wolf is lost and he doesn't know what to do. A chance at a new job gives him a little hope, but the job is for Dryden, the strongest Alpha there is as his assistant, and Arri isn't sure he'll be safe. No one can sense his wolf though, they think he is human. Dryden wants a human assistant because he senses something going on in the pack. Since He can't sense Arri's wolf all is well until he has a meeting with Arri's old Alpha, and Arri shifts. Dryden knows he's his mate and a challenge is called because the Alpha's son wants Arri.

Dryden wins the challenge, killing both the Alpha and his son. But there is trouble brewing. Arri is kidnapped, deceitful Beta's abound, and the secrets could nearly destroy Dryden and Arri.

I cannot wait for the next story...lots of surprises are in store for the pack and it's members!!

Arri had such a hard life. Banished from his pack at such a young age. As soon as he shifted for the first time, into an Omega wolf he was told to leave, but his problems had begun well before that, thanks to the Alpha's son, Baston. He was really lucky, just before he left to spend some time with an old wolf called Burnett, who was at least able to let him know a bit more about what being an Omega would mean.

Trying to do his best in a human world, Arri is crippled by the way he can sense the emotions of others. So when he is taken in by an Alpha (who doesn't even know who or what he is) to work as a personal assistant for the man, Arri continued to do his best to hide his true nature, and try and keep his attraction for the Alpha a secret as well.

Dryden - well, for an Alpha he could be just a little bit thick sometime. He knows he's got problems in his pack and with other packs, and he thinks by hiring a 'human' assistant he can work out where his problems are coming from. Unfortunately a lot of the pack don't understand, which causes more problems in itself. This book is a slow burn in the romance department, but it's entertaining from the first page.
4.5 Stars!
The only thing I didn't like in this book was the way Dryden was such a slut - in the author's world, it was because he was an Alpha with a very high sex drive, but my heart ached for Arri. Also, Dryden assumed he'd hired a human for the position of assistant and that the human would have to be educated about shifters. In the first meeting Dryden had with his betas he was using words like alpha and pack and things like that. Arri picked up on it, Dryden fobbed it off, and yes went back to screwing anything on legs.

This author has always had a way of stirring emotions with simple words and this book is no different. I felt Arri's pain, I felt the angst in the pack and when Baston turned up again - I felt all that too. This book is a bit harsh in places, but the connection (when it finally happens) between Dryden and Arri is too real to ignore. There are shifter politics in play, Mpreg, and Van - I liked Van. Highly recommended.

He deserves to be loved and cherished

Lately, happily, and with a fair amount of disappointment there has been a great ever growing number of Omega (mpreg - male pregnancy) stories / books. Some are an excuse to write about sex with a little bit of story thrown in. While other writers may have started out writing that way, they honed their craft & have definitely grown into much more accomplished story creators. And then there are authors like CR who tell a great story where there is sex sprinkled throughout, but it doesn't take over the story. CR starts her story off with a bang! Full of emotions and drama.

Our bullied orphaned Omega is cruelly, but serendipiously banished from the pack of a power crazy Alpha with a despicable Alpha heir (son). The treatment the Omega received was abominable. The Alpha that was supposed to protect him - blamed him for the violence perpetrated by his own sadistic son.

The reader is treated to a world of Wolves with some different / new ideas about how packs operate. The fact that Omegas are rare though they are not seen as valuable is surprising.

A Wolf preferring Humans to other Wolves is very telling. An Omega unaware of who or what he actually is begins a new perilous life being pursued by demons from his past. Arri is so sweet, delicate, and unworthy of all the horrors heaped on him. You want him to find his Truemate - a big strong Alpha who can protect & love him. Provide him with the home, trust, & respect he has always deserved.

A strong pack with a respected but suspicious Alpha becomes an idea hiding place. Despite the rutting during the Moon Phase and unexpected feelings of jealousy, Arri feels safe for the first time in a long time. Now if he can only tell the Alpha he is being betrayed by a trusted Beta without revealing who he actually is and how he learned the information.

This story was at times hard to read especially with the violence prevelant directed towards Arri, but the characters had you really liking them or hating them. They made the reading compelling. The author leaves the reader wanting more. There has to be a sequel. And I eagerly await its arrival.
