Containment, by Kyle Kirkland

In the near future, an infectious and deadly disease appears in the city of Medburg. Whatever is causing it seems to be a mysterious new kind of organism. Emergency teams isolate the epidemic to Medburg, trapping 20,000 people in a containment zone that slowly descends into mayhem. Roderick Halkin and Cecily Sunday are unconventional scientists who must try to understand an unconventional microorganism that doesn't obey the laws of biology. Gary and Alicia Winters--Medburg teenagers with big dreams but not much else--struggle to stay alive. And the government faces a stark reality: If everything in the containment zone dies, so does the microbe, while a single breach in the zone--and perhaps even a single survivor left inside--endangers the whole world.

Imagine If You Didn't Know You Were Infected Or Not,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
By Robin Lee
This author wrote an excellent medical thriller..It's plot, CDC involvment, government politics, national guard, scientists, epidemiologists, other WHO's, practically sound realistic...The details and depiction of how all across the world, an outbreakout like this is contained, were perfect....So, much that it may just have happened already, we will never hear about and it will be covered up....Great characterization, of what "Containment" feels like for every "frightened" party involved, not just the victims....All Scientific/Medical terms are easily explained...This was beat the clock right down to the second, to the very nerve wracking end....

The outbreak will eventually occur April, 12 in Medburg, Pennsylvania, because it will effect and kill all rodents in the small town first, which no one will be aware of...Not until April, 13 th, when 2 bodies on the roadside are picked up, there are no signs or symptoms to be recognized as cause of death post autospy..Then the Micro-Investigation Unit, of Department of Health and Human Services will be called immediately to investigate..They will send out their best team and it's what they don't find that is shocking...

This is not your regular mutated virus, bacteria or chemical agent...It's deadier, because it is on a molecular level, which makes up all living and non-living things...If a mutation enters our bodies we will never know, because our immune system won't react to it as a foreign substance, such as the Flu, or plague or any other diseases....That is a very "terrifying thought".....
So, will they be able to find the hidden cause or come up with a cure in time..If not, in the end no one ever leaves the zone, not one single person, no matter who you are...Or it will be a global disaster....

But what's worse being in "Containment" or not knowing if you truly are infected, because you will "never, ever feel sick" until it's too late...

Very nice

Ok, you are going to read several reviews about how "sciency" this book is. Reports of its unreadable ness are HIGHLY exaggerated. I felt that it read like a very young Michael Crichton. Without two pages of one of the main characters explaining some obscure science fact about a butterfly in China. I really enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to reading more of his work and watching him grow.

I Couldn't Put it Down
By Christina41586
Morality meets medical science, and I was completely addicted. I seriously spent a week sleep deprived because I would swear I'd only read one chapter per night, but read 2 or 3. Even if you don't have a medical science background, the book is enjoyable. If you DO have a background, it's all that much more exciting. I would leave class, come home, and read a chapter or two getting excited when the author got the science right.
