About the Author
Neil A. Weiss (deceased) received his Ph.D. from UCLA and subsequently accepted an assistant-professor position at Arizona State University (ASU), where he was ultimately promoted to the rank of full professor. Weiss has taught mathematics, probability, statistics, and operations research from the freshman level to the advanced graduate level.

In recognition of his excellence in teaching, he received the Dean’s Quality Teaching Award from the ASU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He has also been runner-up twice for the Charles Wexler Teaching Award in the ASU School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. Weiss’s comprehensive knowledge and experience ensures that his texts are mathematically accurate, as well as pedagogically sound.

Weiss has published research papers in both theoretical and applied mathematics, including probability, engineering, operations research, numerical analysis, and psychology. He has also published several teaching-related papers.

In addition to his numerous research publications, Weiss has authored or coauthored books in real analysis, probability, statistics, and finite mathematics. His texts-well known for their precision, readability, and pedagogical excellence-are used worldwide.

In his spare time, Weiss enjoys walking and studying and practicing meditation. He is married and has two sons and three grandchildren.

I have used this book mainly for self-study, in particular, the measure theory and I admit that it did wonderful job. The thing that I like most about this book is that it provides a lot of examples along with definitions, theorems, proofs etc. Furthermore, it covers wide varieties of topics and those topics are mostly self-contained. Coming from Economics back ground, this book helps me a lot to understand those abstract mathematical models applied in recent Economic theories.

This book was used in my graduate course on measure theory and it is very good. I have a few other books I am going through in specialized areas of analysis and find myself referencing this book for definitions because they are stated much more clearly. Another thing that is nice about it is that it tells you what chapters are needed to be covered if you want to study one particular chapter. For example. if I wanted to study chapter 16, I would have to study chapters 1-5,7 and 12 (or something like that I cannot remember them exactly).

Very well written, easy to follow for non-Kashmiris

I am very pleased with this purchase. I looked at a few recipes for dishes that I am already good at and the recipes here made total sense, this gives me confidence to try some new recipes. It is easy to see the effort that has gone into writing this book and why it is so popular. More than half the food I cook is already Kashmiri but I am looking forward to surprising my husband with (new to me) dishes that he should remember from his childhood in Srinagar. Our daughters already love Kashmiri food. I hope to use this book to get them to try cooking a few easy things on their own.

I am a Kashmiri Pandit that has lived in the US for a decade and never cooked our ethnic food as I thought it was tedious and required more than the basic training my parents gave me.This book made the difference.I now try a recipe every now and then .Simple,authentic and delicious.Particularly easy to get ingredients since she gives American/international names .

If Kashmiri cuisine were a subject, this book deserves to be the required text ! It arrived yesterday and I am speechless after reading it. To call it a book is an understatement. Going through the first few pages itself shows the pains that the author has gone through, to make the reader well versed with everything associated with Kashmiri cuisine. From the Kashmiri, Hindi and English names of vegetables, utensils, spices to the detailed description on peeling and washing certain items( with pictures!) this book is a dummy's guide to Kashmiri cooking. While one may find many books with Kashmiri cuisine this book's USP lies in the way it connects you to the Kashmiri culture. There are details of the occasions on which particular dishes are prepared and even recommendations on where to buy certain vegetables (outside India). I didn't know I could actually find sotchal at a korean store! My cousin is getting married this year and is going to move to UK. Needless to say this book goes with her. I am sure she would thank me more than her own mother!

Thankyou Mrs Ganju for this wonderful book. Although I feel that the exteriors of the book (cover, pictures, paper/font etc) could have been much better...I am sure its unmatchable when it comes to the content!!

About the Author
Waltraud Ernst is Professor in the History of Medicine, 1700-2000, at Oxford Brookes University in the UK. She has written widely on the history of psychiatry in South Asia. Her publications include Mad Tales from the Raj (1991/2010) and 'Beyond East and West. From the History of Colonial Medicine to a Social History of Medicine(s) in South Asia', Social History of Medicine 20 (2007): 505-24. Thomas Mueller is a medical doctor and historian. He is Head of the Research Unit in the History of Medicine at Ulm University/ZfP Suedwuerttemberg, FRG. He is the author of numerous publications in the history of psychiatry. Recent books include From Charlottenburg to Central Park West. Henry Lowenfeld and Psychoanalysis in Berlin, Prague and New York (2000) and Psychotherapy and Body Therapy in Berlin. Histories and Practices of Implementation (ed., 2004).

Simply put....Save your money. I bought this book thinking it was going to be a bio but, it wasn't. The facts were mostly taken from articles and interviews. If I were you I would spend the money on the book Anthony Kiedis' wrote 'Scar Tissue'.

Definitely not Elizabeth Eulberg's best

I hate to say it but Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality is my least favorite of Elizabeth Eulberg's books. All of her previous books have ended up on my favorites list and I just can't say the same for this one. While I still enjoyed it, I find myself forgetting about it already.

Lexi was my biggest problem. She had absolutely no confidence in herself. She thought that the only way she could interact with guys was if she cracked jokes and acted like she didn't care about anything. She considered herself ugly just because she didn't wear a ton of makeup or dress super girly. I get that living in the pageant world made her feel bad about herself but it really bothers me when girls act like makeup and clothes are the only things that could make someone pretty. I wanted to slap Lexi so many times because she was just so oblivious! Also, her friends got on my nerves a bit too. One of them only added to her thoughts that makeup and clothes are all that matter and the other one got angry about nothing in particular and acted kind of bitchy. They weren't horrible, by any means, but they weren't nearly as awesome as the friends in Elizabeth Eulberg's previous books.

The story itself was a little shallow but it was entertaining. Lexi decides to transform herself so that guys will finally start to notice her. Little does she know how well it will actually work. One day as her new self and guys are falling all over her and Lexi's life completely changes. It was a little unrealistic but it made for a pretty fun story.

Oh, also, I have to mention Lexi's family and how bad they were! Oh my gosh I would have become an emancipated minor if I had her mother. She is probably one of the worst moms I have ever read about, ever. She had two daughters but she really only seemed to care about one and it wasn't Lexi. Every thought revolved around pageants even though they had no money for them. There's one point in the book where I really probably would have murdered her if she had been my mom. And Lexi's little sister came across as this huge spoiled brat for most of the book but by the end I did like her.

One other flaw I had with Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality was the ending. Things seemed very unresolved and I was left wondering what happened. The ending worked but it's not what I wanted at all. It just bothers me when things are left hanging.

Overall, if you're a fan of Elizabeth Eulberg, check out Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality. However, if you've never read any of her other books, I'd recommend starting with one of them rather than this one.

This Book is a lot of fun!

Lexi has a great personality. She is funny and is a lot of fun to be around. Everyone likes her, but no one wants to date her. Add to that the fact that Lexi's kid sister is a beauty queen who controls all of the attention and you have one self-deprecating heroine. Lexie doesn't think she's beautiful and doesn't think she'll get the guy, until her best friend challenges her. If Lexie wants her bf Benny to take the plunge then Lexie must put some effort into her looks. Lexie dolls up and so her revenge begins. The girl with the great personality is actually pretty hot.

This book is a lot of fun. It is charming, sad in some places and the characters will frustrate you, but it is honestly an enjoyable read. Lexie is an average teenage girl. She has her two best friends, has issues with her parents and thinks a lot about boys, but she is not whiney or annoying. She is a likeable heroine, because she takes life in stride. She wants things her mom cannot afford to give her? That's cool; Lexie gets a part time job and meticulously saves her money. I like that about her.

I like Lexie, but hate her family. Her sister is spoiled and her father is a deadbeat who pretends not to be, but it is her mother who I despised. First of all, I have no respect for parents who dress their children up like adults and parade them around a stage. Second, any parent who favors one child and ignores the other does not deserve children. Lexi is marginalized and treated like second best, while her sister is treated like a princess. Lexie is forced to be apart of the pageant team, spending her free time supporting and working for her little sister. It is disgusting. Her mom doesn't support her in anyway. She just expects Lexie to take the abuse and fall in line. I have never been supportive of open rebellion, the way I supported Lexie. I wanted her mom brought low.

This book is entertaining, but not genius. I saw every twist and turn coming a mile away. Not a single action taken by the characters surprised me. The great thing is that I didn't care. I just really liked reading Lexi'a journey.

It doesn't get four stars or higher, because I did not like the ending. It wasn't a horrible ending, but a lot seemed unresolved. What is Lexie going to do about Tyler? When will Benny and Lexie realize that they were awful friends to Cam and make amends? What about Lexie's relationship with her parents? Have they learned their lesson? Will they evolve? Will Lexie simply have to leave her parents behind?

My final thought is that there is nothing wrong with putting on a little make-up or wearing fancy clothes. I like make-up and I have been known to splurge on a pretty dress. If you decide to be what the author refers to as a "glam girl" that is your right. Not every girl who dresses up, does that to impress anyone or to gain the attention of the opposite sex. Also, not every girl who puts on some foundation and eyeliner is going to be the sexiest girl in the school. Lexie puts on a dress and the entire school population is stumbling all over themselves, because wow she's pretty. Have you actually seen a pretty girl without make-up? She is still very pretty. So, for everyone to be like "OMG!" just because she put down her hair and put on some make-up, I found it wrong and misleading. Sixteen year old girls, who feel the way Lexie feels, are going to read this. It is not ok for them to believe that just putting on an expensive shirt and some eyeliner is going to make all the boys fall in line.

Beauty comes from within. Everyone has to learn to love themselves, before they can expect someone else to love them. That is something my mother said to teenage me as I struggled with body issues and the fact that I am not the most attractive girl. She was right. I think by the end of this book, Lexie would agree with my mom's sage old wisdom.

I am a girl with a “great personality”. I’ve known this about myself since high school, when the boys would like me, but like-like my friends. I’ll let you in on a little secret though – it’s always been something I’m happy about. Sure, I might have wished that I got more attention from the opposite sex or even just from other people in general. But I liked being the girl who everyone could get along with or be friends with. It gave me free rein to concentrate on writing and on school and on other fun obsessions, like boy bands and books.

So when I first heard about The Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality, it was a sure bet I was interested in seeing just what Lexi would do about her “great personality” reputation. What I didn’t bargain on was discovering that this book was not only about a GP (great personality) girl who snagged the attention she craved; it was also about friendships and family and finding complete confidence in being the best version of you. The author manages to weave all these elements into a cohesive plot, and I found myself speeding through the pages until I reached the end.

Lexi is funny and intelligent, and it was easy to like her immediately. This doesn’t surprise me, as she is supposed to have that “great personality” touted in the title. I was all for her embracing her best self, as it’s fairly obvious at the start that she’s hiding a few things, but I wasn’t exactly the biggest fan when she went overboard with her transformation. Even if I didn’t like her attitude/personality transplant, I could understand it – everyone has that desire to simply be liked and noticed. I do like how, eventually, she realizes that she can be a girl with a great personality, but one who does make an effort to put her best foot forward in the world, in terms of appearance and otherwise.

It’s no surprise that Lexi is quickly swayed to embrace her physical transformation. It brings her attention and lends her an air of confidence she’s never had before, all things that she needs in the face of the extremely sad home situation she lives with. Her father is absent from her life, her sister is the pride and focus of the family and her mother… her mother is just the worst, contributing to the stress, low self-esteem and hidden anger Lexi harbors.

Lexi becomes someone that makes me very proud at the end of the book, and I liked that. Her confidence in who she was and her conviction about what was right for her certainly made me want to applaud when I finished. We all need that one life-changing moment where we realized that it’s okay to be yourself, but that we need to attempt to be the best version we can be.

Of course, in this book, there are the boys. I quite liked Taylor from the very beginning, as Logan struck me as a typical popular kid. The romance isn’t the main focus of this book, but of course it played a part in Lexi discovering what she really wanted versus the things she had thought she wanted.

And then there are Lexi’s two amazing best friends, Benny and Cam. They’re such a fun trio together, and I like how they both were supportive of Lexi in different ways. Benny is the one who encourages her to embark on this journey where she fixes up her appearance, while Cam on the other hand reminds Lexi that there’s nothing more important than who she is versus what she looks like. I would like to have Cam and Benny in my own life, as they pretty much rocked at being Lexi’s friends.

The book shows the reader what pageants are like, particularly the ones held for kids. It was both fascinating and horrifying to witness how the pageants worked and what was asked of the kids, particularly when it came to the amount of work, practice and even money spent on them. It simply seemed crazy to me that some people would pursue this way of life to the point of financial instability (like Lexi’s mom, for instance), especially considering the fact that these are kids we’re talking about. But for the purposes of the book, it worked.

In the end, the only major issue I had in this book was the way that there was no resolution when it came to Lexi’s mother or father. I felt like these two were the loose threads that deserved to be further explored and possibly tied up neatly, and it was weird to end the book feeling like I wanted to still yell at her mother.

I really enjoyed reading The Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality, more for Lexi’s journey than for anything else. It was fun to see how changing up her appearance kick-stated a change in her mindset and confidence level, and I was definitely rooting for her. Even though things felt a bit unresolved at the end with her parents, I’m choosing to believe in only the best for Lexi and her future, and I’m sure you will too.
